Colemans Quest for NL’s Best
Official 2026 Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. By entering, all Entrants are deemed to agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Failure to adhere to the Official Rules will result in disqualification of any submitted Entries. The Sponsor reserves the right to determine if an Entry is invalid at any stage at its sole discretion.
Please read them carefully.
1. Eligibility. The 2026 Colemans Quest for NL’s Best Contest (the “Contest”) is open to (i) legal residents of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) who, at time of entry, are at least 18 years of age, and to (ii) legally organized business entities which, at time of entry, are validly authorized to do business in NL and have business operations in NL. Colemans (the “Sponsor”) will review all applicants to ensure each entry meets entrance requirements. To enter, an entrant must be able to satisfy the Product Eligibility Requirements described below.
2. Persons and Entities Not Eligible. Current vendors who have products listed in Sponsor’s stores, are prohibited from entering products already listed. If a current vendor would like to enter the competition, they must enter products that are, at the time of the contest, not actively listed in Sponsor stores. In addition, the Contest is not open to Sponsor (and its parent companies, subsidiaries, and affiliates) and any person who is directly involved in the Contest’s administration, judging, or selection process. Sponsor may disqualify any Entry if Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, that the Entry presents an actual or perceived conflict of interest that could compromise the fairness or integrity of the Contest.
3. How to Enter. Entries will be accepted beginning 12:00:01 a.m. Newfoundland Standard Time (“NST”) on May 20, 2026, and ending at 4:59:59 p.m. NST on or about July 1, 2026 (the “Contest Period”). For any Entry, the “Entrant” shall be the person or entity on whose behalf the Entry is submitted. In the event that the Entrant is an entity, the Entrant must also designate an “Entrant Contact” in the Online Entry Form (defined below) who is knowledgeable about the Eligible Products; authorized to make and receive all communications related to the Contest; and authorized to make all of Entrant’s decisions related to the Contest.
The Entrant must complete the “Online Entry Form” found on Sponsor’s website and provide all information requested in the form.
In the Online Entry Form, the Entrant must nominate at least one (1) and no more than three (3) Eligible Products (as defined below) per official entry. There is no limit to the number of official entries an Entrant may submit. The Sponsor encourages Entrants to group similar products within a single entry. For example, if jam is the product being entered, the Entrant may submit up to three (3) flavours of jam within one entry accompanied by a single video. If the Entrant also wishes to submit additional product categories (e.g., three varieties of granola), a separate Online Entry Form and corresponding video must be submitted for each additional entry.
The Entrant must create a video of no more than two (2) minutes in length describing and depicting the nominated Eligible Product(s) and featuring the Entrant or Entrant Contact (the “Video Submission”). The Video Submission may also describe the Entrant, the Entrant’s business, the Entrant’s background; or provide other relevant information about the Entrant and the Eligible Product(s). Video submissions must be provided as either a private video with shared access granted to the Sponsor, a link to a YouTube video, or a link to a Google Drive file for viewing. All video submissions must comply with the technical requirements outlined in the Online Entry Form.Entrants are solely responsible for ensuring that any Video Submission link and/or shared-access file is valid, accessible to Sponsor, and remains available (without restriction, password change, expiration, deletion, takedown, or other access limitation). Sponsor is not responsible for, and may disqualify an Entry due to, any inability to access or view a Video Submission for any reason, including without limitation incorrect URLs, expired links, permission settings, file removals, platform outages, or other technical issues.
The “Entry” shall constitute and include all information submitted by Entrant to Sponsor in connection with the Contest, whether via the Online Entry Form, the Video Submission, any judging or evaluation process, or otherwise.
Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Entry that it determines in its sole discretion to be materially incomplete, inaccurate, or ineligible. Sponsor reserves the right to extend or modify the entry deadline in its sole discretion.
By uploading a link of their Video Submission, Entrant agrees that their Video Submission conforms to the Video Guidelines and Content Restrictions listed below (collectively, the “Guidelines and Restrictions”) and that the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may remove any Video Submission and disqualify any Entrant from the Contest if the Sponsor believes a Video Submission fails to conform to the Guidelines and Restrictions.
Video Guidelines:

- Each Video Submission must not exceed two (2) minutes in length; and
- Each Video Submission must not exceed five (5) GB in size.
-
Content Restrictions:
-

4. Product Eligibility Requirements. Entrant may nominate certain food, beverage, or general merchandise products as defined below and in the Online Entry Form. Only Eligible Products may be nominated. An “Eligible Product” is a product that (i) is produced, manufactured, grown, or harvested substantially in NL; (ii) can be supplied by the Entrant for sale in Sponsor’s stores throughout NL; (iii) is suitable for consumption or use by humans or household pets and complies with all federal, provincial, or local laws and regulations applicable to products of its kind; (iv) can be sold at retail without infringing, misappropriating, diluting, or otherwise violating, directly or indirectly, the patent, trade secret, copyright, trademark, right of publicity, or any other rights of any third party, and without violating any judicial or administrative order; (v) can be sold at retail without any license or permit other than those customarily held by Sponsor’s stores; (vi) fits one of the food, beverage, or general merchandise categories specified for selection in the Online Entry Form; (vii) is not a product regulated by the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation (including, but not limited to, both alcohol and cannabis products); and (viii) is otherwise suitable for sale in retail grocery stores.
5. Judging. All eligible Entries will be reviewed by one or more panels of judges selected by Sponsor using such criteria as they may deem appropriate, including (without limitation) an assessment of each Eligible Product’s attributes, customer appeal, value, uniqueness, market potential, and differentiation from products already available at most Sponsor’s stores; the qualities, marketability, and readiness for production of the Eligible Products; the Entrant’s commercial preparedness and suitability as a potential retail supplier; the quality of the Entry, including the Video Submission; and the Entrant’s overall compliance with the Official Rules. In the course of this review, Sponsor and/or the judges may (but are not obligated to) request additional information from the Entrant or Entrant Contact; engage in meetings and discussions with Entrants or Entrant Contacts; request product samples for testing or sampling purposes; and/or conduct Entrant site visits; and may do so at times and locations selected by Sponsor, including in-person or remotely. Entrants agree to cooperate with such requests. The judges may, in their discretion, conduct the judging in one or more rounds, including by creating an internal shortlist of Entries for further evaluation.
One (1) Grand Prize winner will be selected from all eligible entries. Up to one (1) runner-up may also be selected at the Sponsor’s discretion based on the overall quality of the remaining entries. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible Entries received during the Contest Period.
Sponsor’s and the judges’ determinations are final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest, and Sponsor is under no obligation to provide reasons for any decision. Sponsor will use reasonable efforts to ensure that any judge with an actual conflict of interest is recused from evaluating the applicable Entry; however, Sponsor’s failure to identify or address any such conflict shall not invalidate the Contest or any decision made in connection with the Contest.
6. Winner Announcement. The Grand Prize Winner will be contacted on or about July 7, 2026 and will be required to keep this information confidential until it is publicly announced. To be declared a winner and to receive any prize, the selected Entrant must remain eligible under these Official Rules at the time of prize awarding.
There may be an opportunity for an in-store event to celebrate the Grand Prize Winner and their product, subject to logistical feasibility and the winner’s consent. Such an event may include, but is not limited to, product demonstrations, formal recognition of the winner, cheque presentation, and other community-focused activities designed to engage customers and showcase the winning product. For greater certainty, any such event (if held) is promotional in nature, is not part of any prize, and has no retail value.
Event details, including location, date, and time, will be determined at the Sponsor’s discretion and are not guaranteed. Any costs associated with the winner’s participation in any such event (if held), including travel and accommodation, will be the sole responsibility of the winner. The Sponsor will work with the winner to identify a suitable store location based on geographic considerations and coordinate event details accordingly.
7. Winners and Prizes. One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded. The Grand Prize Winner will receive: (a) a CAD $1,000 cash prize; and (b) a Listing Opportunity, as further described in Section 8 (collectively, the “Grand Prize”). One (1) runner-up prize may also be awarded, at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, based on the overall quality of the remaining eligible Entries. If a runner-up is selected, the runner-up’s prize shall consist solely of a commemorative plaque (the “Runner-Up Prize”), and the runner-up shall not be entitled to any cash (or cash equivalent) prize, Listing Opportunity, or any other compensation, benefit, or consideration of any kind. All prizes will be awarded in Newfoundland and Labrador only.
Subject to successful winner verification and execution of any required releases and/or acknowledgements, Sponsor will use commercially reasonable efforts to: (i) deliver or make available the CAD $1,000 cash portion of the Grand Prize within thirty (30) days after the public announcement of the Grand Prize Winner; (ii) deliver the Runner-Up Prize (if awarded) within sixty (60) days after the public announcement of the Grand Prize Winner; and (iii) commence the Listing Opportunity within a commercially reasonable period following completion of vendor onboarding and setup, and in any event within ninety (90) days after completion of such onboarding and setup, unless delayed due to circumstances beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control (including product readiness, regulatory compliance requirements, supply constraints, or store operational requirements).
8. Listing Opportunity. The Listing Opportunity consists of a twelve (12) month product listing opportunity for the winning Eligible Product(s) across all Sponsor’s store locations in Newfoundland and Labrador, subject to standard vendor onboarding requirements and product ordering at Sponsor’s commercial discretion. The Grand Prize Winner will be required to work with Sponsor to determine and implement a distribution and delivery approach that is logistically feasible for all store locations and that ensures proper product freshness, quality, and handling, taking into account factors such as shelf life, storage requirements, delivery frequency, packaging, and any applicable food safety or regulatory requirements. The Listing Opportunity is promotional in nature, is not transferable, has no cash value (and no guaranteed retail value), and may not be substituted or assigned by the Grand Prize Winner. Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, modify the manner in which the Listing Opportunity is implemented to address operational requirements, provided that the overall value of the Listing Opportunity is not materially diminished. Following the initial twelve (12) month period, Sponsor reserves the right to assess product performance and determine, in its sole discretion, whether to continue, modify, or discontinue the listing. Sponsor shall have no obligation to continue carrying any product that does not meet its established performance standards.
9. Entrant Representations and Warranties. By entering, each Entrant agrees, represents, and warrants that (i) Entrant owns or has a valid license to use all intellectual property rights in and to the nominated Eligible Products, including (without limitation) any patent rights, trade secret rights, copyrights, and trademark rights in and to the products, any rights of publicity exploited in the products or packaging, their labels, and their manufacturing processes; (ii) neither submission of the Entry nor the sale of Entrant’s Eligible Products in Colemans stores would infringe, misappropriate, dilute, or otherwise violate the rights of any other person or entity, including (without limitation) the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity; (iii) the Entrant is, or can readily become, capable of producing its nominated Eligible Products in sufficient quantities to supply stores operated by Colemans throughout NL; (iv) the products nominated by Entrant satisfy the requirements to be Eligible Products defined herein; and (v) the Entrant is eligible to participate and the Entry complies with these Official Rules. Sponsor relies on these agreements, representations, and warranties in considering each Entry.
RELEASE AND INDEMNIFICATION BY ENTRANT
By entering, Entrant agrees to RELEASE, DEFEND, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS Sponsor; its parent companies, subsidiaries, and affiliates; and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, advertising and promotional agencies (together, the “Releasees”), from and against: any and all suits, claims, demands, liability, loss, damage, harm, injury, cost or expense (including reasonable attorney’s fees) (together, a “Loss”), whether made in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, which may occur arising out of or relating to Entrant’s participation in the Contest; the preparation of any Entry (including any allegation that an Entry violates the intellectual property rights or other rights of a third party); the use by any Releasee of the Entry or any matter comprising the Entry; or Entrant’s acceptance, possession, or use/misuse of any prize. THIS RELEASE, INDEMNITY, AND OBLIGATION TO DEFEND SHALL APPLY EVEN IF THE INDEMNIFIED LOSS IS PARTLY ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF A RELEASEE.
License and Release of Intellectual Property Rights and Business/Product Concept Claims. By entering, Entrant acknowledges and agrees that Releasees may publish the Entrant’s Entry without further compensation or consent, licenses (non-exclusively) the Releasees to do so, and agrees to confirm this grant and license in writing upon request. Entrant agrees that this grant and license is perpetual, worldwide, assignable, divisible, and applicable as to any published or publishable form or media (including without limitation still, motion, print, radio, television, or film or Internet or other digital medium), without any condition precedent such as prior approval of published materials. Entrant further agrees that that the Releasees or their assigns may (now, previously, or in the future), manufacture, design, purchase, sell, or offer for sale products that are similar to, identical to, or based on matter comprising an Entry without any compensation or any obligation to the Entrant, and may produce and distribute any derivative works based on matter comprising an Entry without any compensation or any obligation to the Entrant. By entering, Entrant releases the Releasees from any claim, cause of action, remedy, damages, or compensation arising out of any manufacture, design, purchase, display, copy, offer for sale, or sale of products that are similar or identical to the Entrant’s nominated products, or that contain characteristics, features, descriptions, or labeling similar or identical to the Entrant’s nominated products, regardless of whether those products are manufactured, designed, bought, or sold by a Releasee or by a third party. Entrant further agrees that the Entry is submitted voluntarily; without any intention, request, or obligation that the Releasees maintain the Entry or any information disclosed in connection with the Entry secret or confidential; without any intention to establish a relationship of a trust, confidential, special, or fiduciary nature; and without any expectation that the use of the Entry, products identical to or similar to the Entry, or ideas embodied in the Entry would entitle the Entrant to compensation or damages.
Publicity. By entering, Entrants agree that they will not conduct or participate in publicity (including media appearances, public appearances, press releases, commercial promotions, or social media usage) relating to the Contest or utilize the marks and intellectual property of Sponsor except in accordance with those policies and guidelines established by Sponsor and provided to the Entrant and will, on Sponsor’s request, remove or delete social media posts and/or cease dissemination of materials determined by Sponsor to be violative of those policies and guidelines. If selected as a Grand Prize Winner or runner-up, Entrants grant an irrevocable license and permission to Sponsor to use Entrants’ names, likenesses, and biographical information (or, if the Entrant is an entity, such information as to both the entity and its principals) for promotional or advertising purposes in all media worldwide, without notice or further compensation. All Entries are subject to Colemans Privacy Policy available for Entrants to read at www.colemans.com/Privacy, except to the extent modified in these Official Rules or any subsequent agreement.
Other Conditions. Sponsor is not responsible for: (i) electronic or digital entries or notifications that are lost, late, stolen, incomplete, illegible, damaged, garbled, destroyed, misdirected, filtered, or captured; (ii) any problems or technical malfunctions, errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, delays in operation of transmission, communication failures, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; (iii) failed or unavailable hardware, network, software or telephone transmissions, damage to entrants’ or any person’s computer and/or its contents, or causes beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control that disrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest; (iv) any entries submitted in a manner that is not expressly allowed under these rules; (v) incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by entrants or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (vi) any typographical or other error in the printing or advertising of the offer, administration or execution of the Contest, or in the announcement of prizes/prize winners; or (vii) malfunctions or interference resulting from illicit, malicious or injurious code (including but not limited to viruses, worms, and denial of service attacks). If for any reason the Contest cannot be executed as planned, including but not limited to transmission failure, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, force majeure (including natural disasters, acts of God, acts of war, epidemics or pandemics, or any manner of civil disorder) or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor that corrupt or affect the security, administration, fairness, integrity, promotional purposes, or proper conduct of the Contest, or if the Contest is compromised or becomes technically corrupted in any way, electronically or otherwise, Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify or terminate the Contest and reserves the right, but not the obligation, to select winners from among all non-suspect entries received as of the date/time of such termination/cancellation or modification or to award substitute prizes in quantities and values that differ from those set forth above. Sponsor retains sole discretion to determine whether an Entrant or potential Entrant is eligible to participate in the Contest, and reserves the right to admit or refuse an Entrant based on Sponsor’s assessment in its sole discretion of whether an excluded individual is or is not a Principal Person of the Entrant; of whether the Entrant’s eligibility may or may not affect the fairness and integrity of the Contest; or based on such other factors as Sponsor may deem appropriate. Sponsor reserves the right (but not the obligation), at its sole discretion, to disqualify any Entrant who (i) tampers with or attempts to tamper with the entry process; (ii) misstates or fails to complete any information required in the Online Entry Form; (iii) fails to provide any information or sample material requested as part of the judging process or Finals Event; (iv) makes any material misrepresentation or omission to Sponsor in the course of participating in the Contest; (v) violates any of the Official Rules or any written agreement with the Sponsor; or (vi) becomes ineligible during the course of the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to seek prosecution of, and damages from, any person who deliberately damages any website or otherwise corrupt or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Disputes. By entering, each Entrant agrees that (i) the Contest will be governed by the laws of the Province of NL without regard to the conflict of laws principles thereof; and (ii) the exclusive venue/forum for any and all disputes related to or arising out of the Contest shall be the provincial business court division or federal courts situated in St. John’s, NL. Entrant further agrees that in no event will any Releasee be liable for any special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages in any such dispute. To the extent that any portion of these Official Rules may be deemed by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remainder shall be given effect in a manner consistent with the intent of the Official Rules.
